Basile Mardi Gras Street Dance, Feb. 20, 2007
These photos were taken about 3 p.m. when the
Basile Mardi Gras joined community members for a street dance in
downtown Basile. That's Capitaine Potic Rider in the first row holding
the chicken. Danny Shuff on accordion with Brandon Moreau on fiddle were
two of the musicians. If you look at the close-up of the screen mask,
you can see how the eyes, nose, and mouth help to disguise the face of
the Mardi Gras. The facial features on the mask are not aligned with the
facial features of the Mardi Gras behind the mask.
